Just when you thought it was safe to go near my website again, another sponsorship form appears.
After the success of last year's Bognor Prom 10k Road Race, which I ran in aid of the Samaritans, I've entered again. This time I shall be running in aid of Michael Ayres Junior School ICT Suite.
As Chair of Governors, it's kind of obligatory, particularly as one of our teaching assistants has entered the London Marathon. It makes my paltry six miles look a little sad. But we all must try our best, feeble as it is. It beats saving all those crisp packets and wrestling those computer vouchers from Tesco's clientele.
The school is in the unfortunate position of having no space in which to put the ICT (that's information and communication technology) suite. Most other schools converted their kitchens, but ours became a library some years ago. Whilst the building is being funded from the capital grant, the contents has to come from somewhere else, which is where you, my kind sponsors, come in.
The race is organised by the Rotary Club of Bognor Hotham, and as in previous years, they usually add an extra 10% to any sponsorship money raised. Last year this turned out to be 25% which was terrific and much appreciated.

I don't intend to wear any kind of fancy dress this year, unless of course there's money to be made.
Well, all in all it wasn't a bad result. I made the mistake of having a light breakfast and not drinking anywhere near enough fluid before starting the race. Needless to say, by the time the 5K mark came up, I was in severe need of a drink. It's fair to say that I probably pushed too hard for the first few kilometres. This became very apparent when people who I'd passed at about 3k came past me at about 7. Ho Hum.
But I still beat last year's time even with a stop at around 5K for water and some oxygen.
